Hello. How do I disable the "Network Security Service" in XP? I've been trying to remove the Home Search thing for a while. I've already disabled the System Restore setting. And i've tried to run HSRemove, HJT, AboutBuster (in safe mode) and basically nothing works.

this darn thing just keeps coming back.

so how do i disbale the "Network security service" in XP. I read through everything on this site and I can't find any instructions on how do to it in XP. when i go into Run > services.msc, i don't see anything about this.

i'm sorry for this stupid question, but i would really appreciate some guidance.

    thanks :)

If it is not there, you do not need to be concerned.

You may need to identify the files, run HSRemove, About:Buster and or Ad-Aware with the VX2 plugin and then delete the files manually.

The instructions for disabling this are in literally hundreds of links and they are right on the link for downloading HSremove. The instructions only apply to Win2K and XP. So either you have a problem reading or your problem is in the way you conveyed your message.

As Major said, if you followed the instructions and do not see the Network Security Service then it is not running on your system. You should also search thru the forum here for "AppInit_DLLs" and the value displayed for it. It can be the cause of problems. Did you run HSremove in safe mode too or only about:Buster? Did you run them with no phyiscal connection to the internet (i.e., cables unplugged)? Try that.
