Before getting into these, I'd like to know how to prevent optional programs such as RealPlayer, iPod/iTunes, and other add ons from loading.

 

If the option isn't available from within a program then either of these:

• WinPatrol - MajorGeeks
• Microsoft Autoruns - MajorGeeks

 

I had considered trimming down loaded services in Windows 7 as I had done with Windows XP.
