What causes a disk write error?/ The only thing running on the machine is "Folding" and "avast" everything else is unchecked in msconfig.
    AMD 3000, win 98, 512 DDR3200

i dont know anything about it so i went and searched the all knowing "google"
and i read where someone said to try scandisk or if your on xp you could try error checking by right clicking drive c click properties click the tools tab and its under there. i think it will say something and you click ok and the next time your comp boots it will check it.

they said if that doesnt work it could possibly be a harddrive failure.

thats about all i can tell you about it.

It could be a power supply going bad, faulty memory - take the memory chips out and reseat them, or a hard drive going bad. All three will contribute to the same error.
