DNS priorities

    Some guidance please. If TCP/IP is set to use specific DNS servers, but the router has different DNS servers specified, which are the operative servers - those in TCP/IP or those in the router? And how can you establish which of these servers is actually being used?

    I have been trying to use tracert to answer this question for myself, without success.

    At the command prompt type "nslookup www.verizon.com" without the quotes. The first line that is returned is the first DNS that was queried.

    Oh...you can enter the servers IP addresses in your TCP/IP configuration and they will be the ones used.
