DNS Suffix Search and workgroups

When I use my XP laptop at the office I need to have entries in the DNS suffix search or I cant access most servers. My home network is only a workgroup and the DNS search suffix stops me accessing home computers using the netbios name. Ive tried putting the workgroup name at the top of the search list with no luck. Any ideas how to configure the search so that the laptop will search local netbios names first then the DNS search list?

 

One possible fix: Change the workgroup name on all the computers at home to match the domain name.

Not sure if it will work, but if it doesn't, you can always change it back.
