do i need a new driver download ?

this may seem a odd question but i have a pc game and was wondering if i can or need to down load a better driver for it to play o.k. it is streets of l.a. i have a e-machine with 2.80 ghz 80 gb hard drive 512 mb ddrsdram and a combo drive . my game loads in when i installed it and shows it's installed but when i click on it to play it it doesn't do anything ( i have defraged it to.) , would this be a problem with the video driver and do i need to download something . i have all crital updates from microsoft . i do hope someone can help me with this . thanks .
