do you have to uninstall jave before installing new java?

Hey, my java is not working... I probably disabled access to it with some spyware program or the other, and have gone to internet options and it says enabled, so I don't know where else to check... this is the second or third time it hasn't worked,and I've heard it just quits working for different reasons, so I want to install sun java. Do I need to uninstall windows java? If so, how? Is there anywhere else I could check to see if I could get it to work again?

The disclaimer on the msjvm kinda scared me. Not reversable... eek..

 

There are oodles and oodles of threads on Google about the defunct nature of MS Java.


They even supplied a utility to remove a piece of their 'own' software. Go figure.

You can happily install Sun Java, and remove MS Java

It gives good info about manual removal method which in my opinion is preferable to the auto method. I use v3810 which requires 3805 to be installed first.

I have had no problems at all with it on my dual boot system. In fact personally, I prefer the MS version since it's visual definition is better ie items always seem clearer and sharper but that's just me
