Documents & Settings Folder - Access denied

    Hi

    OS is Win 7.

    The attached shows message received on each occasion of trying to access certain folders of which Documents & Settings is included.

    Can anyone advise how to solve the problem. Any information required can be submitted on request

    Common complaint with vista and 7. i have the same. And this because the folder "Documents and Settings " doesn't actually exist on Vista (and hence W7). Yes, yes, I know that you can see it there plain as day light - but it is a fake, a special junction point (or symbolic link) to maintain compatibility with XP. Files saved to "Documents and Settings" actually get saved elsewhere ...The trick is finding out where. And on Vsta and W7 Documents And Settings points to (normally) C:\Users

    Hi

    Some of the old folders from the likes of XP as in Documents and Settings have been superceeded with the Users folder (with sub folders of documents, music, pictures etc) the c:\documents and settings folder is still their as a junction point for legacy compatability with software applications that wish to create folders in Docs and Settings, which then jump to Users folder.

    So that message is normal

    You can however if you wish right click it and choose Properties > Security tab and give your account full permissions.

    Hi Guys

    Late response regretted.

    Problem has been sorted. It took some time in coming to terms with situation but after reading up on the subject,
    it became more clear.
    Pls consider this thread as closed.
