Ok, seems like a dumb question since in general Folding is CPU heavy, but when you turn on the big packets it takes a good chunk into my pagefile and memory, out of a gig of DDR400 i have about 270mbs free, i have no complaints cause i still have more than enough memory free for what i'm doing, but notice if it is using the pagefile, would it help if a faster hard drive in or does it use too little of the drive to count?

My pagefile is on my 2nd drive, and is a 40gig 5400rpm drive, so lets debate shall we!!

Also i'm much happier now turing in around 280+ Points 24hr Avg now instead of 140 like i was on the same machine with no overclocking, gonna have to tweak some more though!

I'm sure it will play a factor. Enough of a factor to go out and buy a faster hdd? Probably not-- unless you just need a good excuse to to buy one ;) "In the name of science," he says.

Anyway, if you're not looking to spend money, a good way to speed up overall disk performance is to keep it good and defragged. One note to mention is all defrag programs are not created equally. There are some that will factor in the use of the file when it's deciding where to put it. A regularly used file will be placed at the beginning of the drive for better access time. It's like smart defragging. DiskPerfect is a great program. Unfortunately it's free to try, $44.99 to buy. But hey, use it a couple times while it's free. DiskPerfect9

It's also a good idea to have a separate small swap partition near the front of your drive for fastest access times. That'll keep those page files in one area and prevent aggrivated defragmentation of your files. more great tips:

Happy Folding :) ...I should get in on this.

    Just got a WD 36G Raptor, 10k RPM, workin for a AMD64 3500+ and a ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard.

Have yet to test it out on a big o'le RIBO, but EVERYTHING seems to run faster now :D

I'm going to try running FAH on my memory stick to see if it makes a difference

ok since it seems we are throwing all kinds of ideas around, what about installing FAH client on a ramdisk.
I remember long ago when I was into Q2 [Quake 2]I installed most all I could into a ramdisk once booted up from a dumbie folder, which did allow faster access times.
