    hey everyone,
ok donwloaded numurous programs to stop trogans and spyware, and for the most part things are going well. but everytime i run the two programs i stuck with that acctuuly seemed to work (adaware 6.0 and spybot) spybot -search and destroy seems to always come up with this one entry (well 5 enetries) of DSO exploit. and it always deltes it but it always comes back, even a minute after. any ideas on something else to download? also another big problem, all these programs work ok until i start my computer over, then i have xxx.instal and purityscan and all this running until i stop almost all things running but the systems and explorer.exe. any idea why no matter what it dosent stop and something i can download (with link) to stop this once and for all?? any suggestion would help, thanks.

The DSO exploit has been remedied in an IE patch. so make sure you're all patched up.

Make sure your Ad-Aware and SpyBot reference files are up to date.

If you are familiar with the registry , then you can try HiJackThis.. but please don't mess with it unless you understand the registry.

well im not familar with it so i wont touch the registry, but how do i patch things up? just update?also really the DSO thing isn't the main problem, its the instalxxx thing and i guess the purity scan whenever i restart the comp. do u have a program to recommend other than adaware and sbybot (that i dont have to pay for...)?

As Kodo indicated, if you have all of the Microsoft updates installed you do not have to worry about the DSO Exploit problem as it is fixed by the updates. SpyBot has a problem where on some system they keep showing the DSO Exploit problem even though it is fixed. So if your MS patches are current ignore SpyBot's messages.

    See this information:

You can also setup SpyBot to ignore DSO Exploit. Set the Mode to Advanced and under Settings goto Ignore Products. Select the Security tab and put a check in the DSO Exploit box. It will be ignored from now on. But as I said above, only do this if your Windows software is up to date.
