DSO Exploit - removal of remnants

I had a problem getting rid of DSO Exploit and Retrieve after I had cleaned up my computer using AdAware, Skybot, SkySweeper, and Skyware blaster. Even though I kept deleting the files once they had been quarantined, they always turned up again on the next sweep.

So I installed the trial version of ZoneAlarm Pro, and ran their cookie cleaning software, (and cleaned out the cache - 120 MBytes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and lo and behold, no more DSOExploit or other beasties. Zone Alarm found TONS of stuff the other programs had not found. And no, before this I was relying on XP's firewall, had no other because I found it too hard to configure for the home network. Became motivated when infestation set in.

We have 3 computers at home (teenagers at loose) and all 3 were infested, now all 3 are clean.

Am running out of ZoneAlarm trial period but am so impressed with it may even buy it .................................

make sure you have all of windows updates and your browser is up to date.

 

I use ZoneAlarm free edition, so I don't feel you will be disappointed to go Pro. I use CrapCleaner to clean out my cookies, caches and temporary internet files, though. Try Mozilla FireFox. It doesn't have near as many security issues as IE.
