    Hey all -

I am considering upgrading my laptop memory. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300, with 2x256 MB DDR2 PC2-4200 sticks. The laptop supports dual channel memory. I'm curious whether it is better to upgrade to 2x512 MB sticks, and utilize the dual channel capabilities, or just buy 1 GB stick and mix it with one of the existing 256 MB sticks. Will I get better performance with more total memory, or does the benefit of using dual channel memory outweigh merely bulking up on as much memory as possible?

you got it right there. 1 gig in dual channel will outperform 1.5gigs in single channel.

this question is along the same topic,
i have a macbook and it supports up to
3gb. 1 2gb and 1 1gb. What would give me the best overall
    2X1GB or 1X2GB + 1X1GB
