Dvd and CD Burning Software and DVD player software

Hi,

Could someone please tell me what free dvd and cd burning program on this site is simple and effictive?

Also Is there a dvd movie software program on here that works as good as power dvd that includes codecs. I want to be able to download and play movies on my computer with ease.
