I create/burn DVDs from an external DVD burner with my TV, Sony, been doing it for a few years but lately I have noticed that some of the created DVDs are skipping when being played back on various DVD players. My question I guess is: are some blank recordable DVDs actually causing this? If so, what brand should I be using. Recent error DVDs were Memorex DVD-R and +R.

Brands rated and at the bottom, it shows who actually makes the brands.

Get a spindle of Verbatim and if you still have the skipping problem, it could be your burner and not the discs.

Verbatim are the best. I usually buy Sony or TDK although I think Sony has gone down some in quality recently.

Memorex are pretty bad from my experience.

I usually find TDK or if need be Sony on sale for about $12.99 for 50 discs at Office Depot or Staples or Radio Shack about once a month. Worth keeping an eye out for a sale.

One thought is stop everything else when burning a disc (only about 5-10 minutes) even if your computer can handle multi-tasking well. I don't know why this seems to help but I find it does.

sach2, he is burning on a burner attached to a tv, not a computer.
