DVD/CDRW drive won't burn

Hi I have a lenovo 3000 C100model name:0761

running windows xp Version 2002 service pack 2

the drive i'm having problems with is HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC4244N.

I can play cds and dvds but i cannot burn either with itunes or with windows media player.

roxio was on the computer, but i uninstalled it and updated my itunes. still no burning.

itunes gives me error 4450
wmp gives me error C00D10DA

i've checked the drivers and they all seem to be fine, and itunes recognizes the cd drive, so that shouldn't be the problem.

i'm really not sure what to do next.

I'm not sure about iTunes (I don't use it) but WMP doesn't burn DVD's, only CD's.... Try a 3rd party app like one of these:
BurnAware: http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_Edition_d5839.html (my personal favorite free burning util)
CD Burner XP: http://www.majorgeeks.com/CDBurnerXP_d4242.html (requires .Net Framework v2.0 or newer)
Try one of those... if neither of those burn, then it could be a hardware problem with the drive. If they burn OK, then the problem is probably software related...
