DVI to HDMI Adaptor Cable Question

    I have a panasonic Viera plasma screen TV with an HDMI input on it. I also have a home built HTPC and my video card has a DVI-I connector on it as well as an S-Video port. I am currently using the S-Video but what to buy an adaptor cable to go fully digital.

    My question is can I use a DVI-D to HDMI rather than DVI-I to HDMI? The DVI-D cable is like a hundred bucks cheaper.
