Easy & free ghosting/imaging software?

I currently back up D: (my data drive) to an external Seagate harddrive via good ol' fashioned copy-paste. That's getting somewhat tedious though, and I'm wondering what the best free imaging/ghosting software would be to accomplish that? Basically, take a snapshot of D:, save it to the external drive, and then be easily recoverable to put back on D: if I ever need it. (It also wouldn't hurt if individual files within the image were extractable, in case I just need one or two things.)

Since you have a Seagate drive, you are eligible to download DiscWizard, which is a full featured version of Acronis True Image.

 

Hm, it is hard to find free backup software for Windows. In contrast to Linux where there is a large amount of free tools of this kind. There are a lot of Windows backup programs as well but they are paid unfortunately. I use True Image backup software, some people prefer ghost or other programs. But I'm an old good True Image fan It is the most reliable, user-friendly and fast as for me.

 

DiscWizard worked perfectly– both my internal and external drives are Seagates so I no problems at all. I imaged both my C: and D: drives in an hour or so last night and've got them backed up safely. Apparently there's another paid version that'll let you do stuff like incremental updates as well, but DW was exactly what I needed.
