editing a bitmap image

    how do you edit a bitmap image, say i scanned a table which was printed on plain paper how do i then edit that and add data into the table after it has been scanned??

    You need what is called optical character recognition (OCR) software to convert the scan to text (tabular in your case). This is often bundled with the scanner, when you buy it.

    A good commercial product is Paperport. Don't know of any free ones.

    Try this one its free, I used it a year ago before I got a new scanner with built in software, it works OK and may give you the data you need.
