Elder Scrolls IV: Peformance tweaking

HEy guys

We got the latest elder scrolls yesterday, and though the game is awesome, its having some major choppy-ness issues on our machine. Whats dumb, is that our PC is well above the minimum system requirements.... It will run fairly smoothly in certian areas, but around other characters, or in a cut scene, it slows to a crawl. I have the graphics cranked down, but I was wondering if maybe there was something more. Anyway, here is my machines spece compared to ESO's minimums.

ESO's:

-Minimum System Requirements:
* Windows XP
* 512MB System RAM
* 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 8x DVD-ROM Drive
* 4.6 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX 9.0c (included)
* 128MB Direct3D Compatible Video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver
* DirectX 8.1 Compatible Sound Card
* Keyboard, Mouse

-Recommended System Requirements:
* 3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 1 GB System RAM
* ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

MY Machine:

HP Pavillion A335W Pentuim 4 @ 2.6 Ghz. 1028 of 333mhz ram, A nvidia geforce 5400 FX (256) PCI, 16x DVD, freshly defraged HD and 12 gb of free space..

Yea so I think it should at least run at lowest settings. Any tips on getting this more playable would be AWESOME!!!

And a little trick i found on others forum is to disable for v-sync in driver
i have nvidia drivers 81.25 and in the game and use the coolbits hack
to change max frames to render ahead from 3 to 0.

For me this add 15 to 20 fps so this is good...

But your cards i am not sure is supported !!!

What Clark says is right, it will help. However, your card is a bit weak for the game. My FX5900 system could not run the game very well but my other system with the 6800GT in it is fantastic.

Your video card is going to give you problems, I have an older pc with a geforce 5600 and the game is unplayable for me...the whole FX series of cards suck for oblivion
