emachine monitor compatibility

i'm trying to test an emachine eView 17f3 monitor. the emachine system itself seems to have video output problems...no monitor will work on it. all monitors i test on my compaq presario S4020WM work except the eView 17f3. is it just not compatible w/ the compaq machine? same 15 pin connector, cords are good, etc. hooking eView up to the compaq pulls up a white screen (no fuzz, nothing weird) & then the eView goes into ?sleep mode? or something. just trying to figure whether the thing works at all because all test monitors that do not work w/ the emachine system DO work w/ the compaq EXCEPT the eView.
