I have a friend that called saying she received an email from one of her relatives with a .jpg attached that was supposed to be 1 picture of her niece. Not only was this picture in the attachment but there were others that were of porn pictures. When she called me I told her to call the relative and see if there was a problem (virus) on their end. They checked and said no. I was convinced this came from the sender however she received another email from someone that she knows later that day with a picture from their vacation and the same porn pictures showed up again as if it was part of the attachment from the sender. I have had this person run spybot, adware and AVG to try to get this obvious virus erased but it keeps happening. Can anyone give me an idea what is causing this?

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Are you saying that multiple other attachments are appearing in the emails that are arriving? What email program?

This is new problem that we have not seen. I'm not sure if anything will detect the problem or not. The best bet is to run thru all of the below and attach ALL of the requested logs.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
