Hello, could you please look at this for me. My laptop has become very erratic. I have been getting loads of adverts flashing up.

I downloaded a trial of what I think was Rogue Killer (it has the same logo) and it flashes up lots of messages in the bottom right corner of 'trojans' it has stopped from installing.

Whilst I was writing a text document in open office it came up with a warning. Everything started flashing (desktop, text document etc) then the screen went blue (no writing). I had to use 'control alt delete' to be able to close down but it was 'closing down' for about 15 mins so I had to close with the button.

This happened 3 times, so I worked through you Run and Read me first and your malware removal info.
The scans do not appear to have found any threats, but I would appreciate you looking at them for me.

I run Avast anti-virus. Also I run Advanced System care as a cleaner and 10bit malware fighter frequently.

TDSSKiller found no threats. I could not find a log in C: and I coud not copy and paste the report to send to you.

    I have attached the logs

    Thanks in advance, Jan

Your logs are all clean. What do you mean by "I have been getting loads of adverts flashing up"? Are you referring to double underlined keywords that when your mouse moves over them you see an advertisement? If so, this is normal and not malware.

Hi, thanks for looking at the logs and getting back to me.
No, I don't mean those add/links. The one's I mean come up in the middle of the screen and block other content until you X out of them. It's not all the time but seems to have bouts of them. Often when I am using Chrome I think? but I'm not sure if that's the only time. I tried the chrome pop up blocker but they still happen.
Yesterday when I was working in chrome and open office, I got a lot of warnings (one after the other) about a trojan trying to install itself. ( I have attached an example) I get an option of allow or refuse so I have been clicking on refuse.) Then everything just started to flash, desktop, chrome, open office. I went to 'ctrl, alt, del' as that was the only way to exit. Another time the screen just went all blue (no writing) and again I had to 'CAD'.
When I shut down, the blue screen with the whirling donut takes forever. After about 15 mins I usually just have to press the power button to turn off.
If it is not infected could you give me any advice about what it might be?
    Thanks, Jan

Hello, just some more info in case it might help find a reason. I can continue working on-line even when the desktop has disappeared. As soon as I go to the desktop I lose everything. and have to hard restart. I get the warning messages constantly. It looks like the same trojan number but headed for different files/areas. Thanks Jan

I don't know what to make of that image you attached. It looks like it is saying that your Avast antivirus program is the infection. Or is there something missing from that image that actually tells you where the problem is. Why not run a full scan with Avast and save a text log to post?

    Also run the below.

Now please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Win7, 8 or 10, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Note: That JRT may reset your home page to a google default so you will need to restore your home page setting if this happens.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Also please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8/10 users right-click and select Run As Administrator
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Attach the logfile to your next next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

    Hello, thanks for reply.
There is no other info given on the pop ups that appear about the trojan. To be honest I'm not really sure what program is sending them. I don't recognise the logo. Can you tell me what program it is please?
I ran Avast full scan, but the only report I could find was that some files were unable to be opened. No infections were found. I couldn't find a link to save a log anywhere so have attached 2 pics of results.
    JRT log is attached.
ADW log attached. I do not think there is anything that I need to keep. I was unsure about hitting the clean or delete buttons so have taken no action on the results until you say I should.
    Thanks, Jan

It looks to me like it was a warning from your Avast Internet Security firewall but it points to the target being Avast itself which is why it is confusing.

Are you having this problem still. If so try uninstalling the below to see if there is a conflict with Avast.
    Advanced SystemCare 9
    IObit Malware Fighter 3
    IObit Uninstaller
    Smart Defrag 4
    Surfing Protection

If that does not help, try uninstalling Avast and see what happens.

Hi, I've had a few days now without any problems, so am assuming whatever it was has gone somehow or other. I really appreciate you help. Thanks very much again. Jan

    You're welcome.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Hello, thanks again. Unfortunately it has all gone wrong again. It started coming up with virus alerts again then lost Internet connection. I am at home using my own router and all my other devices are working fine. It is picking it up and says it is connected but will not go onto any Internet. Chrome says DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET.
I have tried to create a new wifi connection with my router but didn't manage to do that.
I tried to do a system restore but it failed and after 'preparing' it said 'insert media.... Some files are missing.......your windows installation or recovery media will provide these files'.
As a last resort I thought maybe it was time to change to W10 but when I looked for it, it has failed to download so all I can think of now is a factory settings reset.
Can you advise anything else please?

Your original logs had not really showed any malware so this problem again may not be due to malware but rather a setting/configuration or software that you are running. Had you uninstall all the items that I asked you to uninstall back in message number 7. If not, please uninstall them now and do not reinstall until we have completed all fixes and everything is working. Then reboot your PC and see if you still have problems.

Also let's see if anything new has really occurred. Run a new scan with Hitman Pro and attach the new log. If you already uninstalled it you will have to redownload and reinstall. See the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Also please run the below.

Please download the latest version of FRST the below link.

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: Make sure you download the proper version ( 32 bit or 64 bit ) for your PC. Only one will run, the correct one. So it you make a mistake and download the wrong one, go back and get the other.
    • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your next reply.
    • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

    Hi,
Whilst uninstalling the programmes the logo bottom right for internet went to 'limited access' for a while.

No better after uninstalling all the recommended programmes.

Uninstalled Avast. Exactly the same. Diagnostics say "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection".

    Re-booted after each stage.

Couldn't run Hitman because I had no internet.

Suddenly thought I could plug in direct by LAN and it worked! Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. So does that mean it is just a problem with my WiFi settings? Although, it was working fine and I hadn't changed any settings when it stopped.

Hitman log attached but found nothing.

    Reinstalled Avast.

    FRST logs attached.

    Thanks, Jan

As with earlier logs, there are no malware issues.
Yes your problem appears to be with your WiFi settings or drivers. As part of IoBit's software you also installed DriverBooster and it is still installed. If you ran this, perhaps this broke your WiFi. It has happened many times. See for one example the below link and there have been many ( Malware Fighters strongly recommend not using software like this ):

    http://forums.iobit.com/forum/drive...-no-wifi-drivers-after-running-driver-booster

I suggest that you see if you can roll back to your old drivers if you ran DriverBooster. Also I suggest that you post in the Software Forum to continue because your problems are not due to malware.

    Thanks.
I have just had a Microsoft Virus alert warning flash up whilst using Chrome, asking me to call a toll free number. I couldn't 'X' out of it so closed things down via task manager. I am running Avast now but is there anything else I need to do?
I will switch to the Software forum after your advice on this.
Will they e able to tell me how to turn back to older drivers?

All depends on whether it keeps happening all the time or was it a onetime thing related to some website you were on. You could also possibly reset Chrome to default settings just incase anything has attached to it, but based on earlier logs it looked fine.
