Ok so i am trying to install java. Whenever i try to install it, it says i already have it on my computer and need to uninstall first. So i click continue, Then i get this error:

"ERROR 1723: There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"

I tried using the java uninstaller that i download from here, but that didn't work. I have vista by the way. Could someone please tell me what to do? Thanks:confused

this is a common problem what you can try is to bring up task manager locate jqs.exe and end this process then uninstall java via add and remove programs.then locate the java folder in programs folder and delete it also the sun folder found in documents and settings computer name application data.
if you have ccleaner use the registry function to clean the registry then reboot the computer and reinstall the latest java.
i hope this helps good luck.

Did windows installer pick up Java and did Revo?
With Revo you need to check the highlighted reg entries and clean up.
    Try javaRa in safe mode..
    Cheers

Edit to add: is this the java tool you're using-

Sounds like it could be a Microsoft Installer issue, as this error can happen for lots of installs, not just Java. My first try would be to use the System Restore and see if you have a restore point just before the Java updating/problem began, then try to update Java from there. If you run into the same problem, follow this step: (did a little googling, I found this for a fix: )
