Hi, I'm having a problem burning DVD-Rs. I have no problem with DVD+Rs or cdrs and cdrws, just DVD-Rs. When I tried to burn something, I would get an error message saying" Unspecified Target ettor" then it would say "Writing short lead out" followed by "Session Fixation Error" and "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once". The DVD-Rs 'm using are Verbatim 16x and I'm using Nero fully updated to 6.6. What's weird is on the screen to select the burning speed, it's greyed out at 2x even though I can burn my DVD+Rs (Memorex 4x) at 4x (with options for 6x and also 2.4x). My OS is Windows XP Home edition with SP2 and my drive is a slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S. Can anyone please help?

Here's the error log from nero:

It's usually media related. Try another brand, and is your burner compatible with DVD-R?

Use the Nero Info Tool to check for problems, it's in the toolkit in your start menu. (it will also tell you if your burner is compatible)

(and please only attach logs and don't copy and past as it makes the thread very long and people lose interest)

I tried Memorex 16 DVD-R and still no luck. I think that maybe my drive doesn't support 16x DVD-Rs? My drive is DVD+-R so it should be able to burn -Rs. And after using the info tool kit, it says it is -R compatible.

i would update the firmware, double check the manufacturer of your drive, (slimtype===sometimes is Lite-on (very bad customer support) )

Does Nero say everything is OK?

If it's XP, don't worry about System ASPI, Nero uses it's own ASPI.

I would say it's not compatible with 16x media. There's usually a note on the spindle pack warning that the newer high speed media is either not compatible with older 2.4x-4x drives, or that your drive may require a firmware upgrade in order to use it at all.
