error installing sims livin'Large

when ever i go to install it i get a error pic of it below same as spec's

spec's
ASUS P4S8X-X
p4 celeron2.0 running at 2.7ghz
1gig pc2100 ram
40gig wd hdd 14gigs left
os- XP home with sp2

 

you sure its installing directly to your primary drive? that looks like an error you would recieve by choosing A:/ drive or a cdrom drive.

 

its going to main drive C: i beleaved i had this error one time befor and i forgot how i got past it

try to manually type it in by choosing your own directory?

 

i tried but it dont give the opiton and this is a legit cd i can post a pic of the cd and its case with a told you so paper next to it lol is there anyway i can manulily install it?

 

this may or may not help what do you make of it omegamerc? first of all i see something worng there dont yall? could me haveing this hdd partition i made it into 2 hdds one of just 3gigs (for my mothers use) and the other is i beleave 34gigs 14gigs free on that one could this be my problem?

 

try changing the compatability mode, seems it doesnt support w2000

 

i'm running xp home with sp2 how do i go in and change it i forgot?

 

ok i tried compatability mode and still same thing is there anyway i can just do a manual install?

 

only if it asks you, as in custom installation or express install. no other way that im aware of; its wierd that its unable to read your HDD though.

 

could it be because my hdd is partition?

what does it say when you go under drives(in that ea prog)? when installing, can you hit BROWSE and select a different partition?

 

when i go to install. it does a check to see if the sims is installed and it finds it thin it gives that error and thats it

 

ok i fixed some but one problem left anyone care to guess how to fix this?

 

It says that you have Direct X 7a. [Edit]You should upgade it too the latest Direct X which is 9c.[/Edit]

i know its some weird stuff going on with this i am out of ideas on how to fix this problem i think i tried everything but uninstalling xp and going back to 98se lol

I dont think you should re-install xp, unless it is your last option on fixing this problem.

Ive lost some of my titles... but will get them back hopefully

Manual install The Sims Livin' Large? Usually you just install it from the cd. But since you get an error maybe.

thanks so much it was just as i thought something was worng with the install of the sims went in to regedit and seen that after installing the sims that it left one key out and i just put the key that was needed and now it works
