I figured out that my computer had a Virtumonde on it and followed your stikied post "READ & RUN ME FIRST" (for Vista OS), When i finished i still have an error message when my computer restarts saying failure to load jhkfe.dll and gebcy.dll which i know now are part of Virtumonde and i would like to figure out how i can completely clean my computer of this.

(Note: Combofix would not work on my computer)(I am using Windows Vista Basic)

Also, i could not find the AVG scan log, it would not let me save the log after the scan and i had all of the settings asked of your tutorial.

    Help is Appreciated

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

ComboFix will run on Vista. You just may have needed to run as administrator and you may have to disableUAC like you were supposed to do with MGtools. Did you skip that step???? Also since you are running SpySweeper, it could be getting in the way.

Is your copy of Spy Sweeper a paid version or free trial? If free, uninstall it now!

    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to VundoFixSvc
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    • Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the None of the above, just start the program button at the bottom of the choices.
    • At the lower right, click on the Config button
    • Then click the Misc tools button
    • Select Delete an NT Service
    • Copy/pasteVundoFixSvc into the box that opens, and press OK
    • If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.
    • Now exit HJT but do not reboot when it tells you it needs to. We will do that further down after running HJT again to fix some other items.
Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) SE Development Kit 6
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6

If you need the Sun Java Development kit you can get it here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Also uninstall Ask Toolbar After doing this, many of the items I give in the HijackThis fix below may no longer show up. Just ignore and continue.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {0579B4B6-0293-4d73-B02D-5EBB0BA0F0A2} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\SrchAstt\1.bin\A2SRCHAS.DLL
    O2 - BHO: Ask Search Assistant BHO - {0579B4B1-0293-4d73-B02D-5EBB0BA0F0A2} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\SrchAstt\1.bin\A2SRCHAS.DLL
    O2 - BHO: Ask Toolbar BHO - {F0D4B231-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\bar\1.bin\ASKSBAR.DLL
    O3 - Toolbar: Ask Toolbar - {F0D4B239-DA4B-4daf-81E4-DFEE4931A4AA} - C:\Program Files\AskSBar\bar\1.bin\ASKSBAR.DLL
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cmds] "rundll32.exe" C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\gebcy.dll,c
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSServer] "rundll32.exe" C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\jkhfe.dll,#1

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\Windows\Temp\
    C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I am currently on the step where you asked me to download "The Avenger" in which I downloaded and unzipped onto my desktop, but whenI tried to double click and run the program i got an error message that reads -
Since i have Vista, is there something i can do?

Sorry that was my fault. I forgot to modify my fix for your Vista OS. However since what you need to delete is so little and most may be gone already, just manually delete the below files.

    C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\gebcy.dll
    C:\Users\Anthony\AppData\Local\Temp\jkhfe.dll
    C:\Windows\SwSys1.bmp
    C:\Windows\SwSys2.bmp
    C:\Windows\System32\VundoFixSVC.exe
    C:\Users\Anthony\Desktop\VundoFix.exe

Then continue with the steps after Avenger.

You did not delete the files I ask you to delete. Why not? In fact, based on your logs you did not do anything that I requested.

What did you do different with ComboFix to make it work?

oops let me give you different logs from MGtools i need to make new ones i think i accidently gave you the same ones.

Ok the combofix problem was that it says that the REG.exe has quit responding and the program will shut down if i just wait and click the button that says close program combofix stays on and begins running again and that is all i did.

That's better! ;) They are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, C:\combofix.txt and C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
