Error message on ex's Compaq Presario Sr1960

Yesterday, while trying to access "My Computer" on her PC, the following message appeared. "Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components"

What the !@#$ does that mean. I was trying to open a CD in the DVD/cd drive.
It works OK, and I was able to transfer data from it, to her "My Music" folder, via another method. I've forgotten how I got it to work as I was rather in a hurry.

Specs are 200gig HD, AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1 gig Ram (2 x 512), XP Home, LightScribe DVD +- RW Dual layer, and an unbelievable amount of crap, pre-installed. Bazza

Probably an invalid autorun.inf, like Matacumbie suggested. Does right clicking on the drive and selecting 'open' produce the same error?
