Error Message re Avast

Hi Guys,
Just downloaded Avast from here and when I click
on it to set up I get following error: 0(00000000) has occurred.
Last performed operation was:spawning.
I still have remnants
of previous Avast downloaded long time ago,as I could not get
rid of it--will that be the problem with this new version?

Hey jim, it really should just overwrite it, but try this and then reinstall and let us know what happens.

Thanks Nick,worked like a charm . . . . .only now,my taskbar+start menu
have turned white--how do I get them back to old color?

jim try this, now it's a shot in the dark but you can try it. Open Taskmanager, click Processes and find , explorer.exe, click on it then click End Process. You will get a notice and just click Yes.Your desktop will disappear, then hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get Taskmanager back , then click the Applications tab and then New Task, and type in , explorer.exe then ok, and see if that helps.
