So, would you please help me in deciding if it is worth to pay what the owner asks for it?
The owner estimates the price between $400 and $500

PS: I'm suspecious about the quality of the battery. I posted a topic explaining this issue in the Hardware section. So, how would the price differ between the two cases (healthy battery, half-healthy battery)?

considering what you can get new, I would pay no more than $300 for that laptop, and thats a stretch even.

It might not be that the seller is trying to rip you off, but that they dont know how quickly things change in the computer world. $300 is the ceiling on the price. :)

    Yes, it might be true.

    I'm sorry guys!
I really wanted to put this in the "Lounge" section, but I didn't pay attention to where I was when I posted the thread.

Anyway, can a moderator move it there?

As the seller, you sort of grow attached to your gadgets and 'overvalue" them b/c you value and depend on them so much..
I think this is a classic example.
For $ 500 now a dayz you can purchase a better machine.

    Thanks!
I think I have to go now and navigate some vendors' websites to see the latest prices.

    I'm somewhat confused about this:
    "Display
VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP [Display adapter] (64.0 MB)
    Default Monitor
Digital Flat Panel (1024x768) [Monitor] (19.7"vis, January 2002)"

Is he also selling an old 19" LCD monitor with the laptop? If so, this monitor couldn't be worth more than $50. If it is truly a 19" laptop, which I doubt, it may be worth $400 depending on if that's what you are looking for.

However, assuming it isn't a 19" laptop, I would have to agree that $300 would be the most I'd pay for it. For example, you can get a Dell Inspiron 1501 with twice the processor speed, twice the RAM, and Vista Home (or XP if you would rather) for $499 + tax/shipping:

    Well, I'm confused too.
I didn't pay attention to this matter at first. But comparing the screen of the laptop to my Samsung SyncMaster 713n makes me wonder! It's smaller so if it's not 17" it must be 15" or so confused
This 19.7" thing is incorrect, or at least it's not what we think it to be.
Is there any different standards for laptop screens? Just wondering...

The previous info was obtained using Belarc Advisor
I then used AIDA32 but it didn't even give me a number!
Then to make sure I used SiSoft Sandra Lite 2007 and here's the screen shot:

Look at Physical Medium Width/Height and Recommended CRT/Panel Size, any clues? What is this 20 in?
