My ethernet card won't aquire an IP address. It was working fine until this morning. The only thing that has changed is I installed a new power supply. This is a wired connection. The device manager says it is working properly. The card is a Realtek RTL8139/810X Family. I have updated the drivers within the last 2 weeks. Any ideas?

What is it supposed to be getting an IP from? Whatever device it is, have you tried restarting it or clearing the DHCP tables (if possible).

Have you made sure IEEE authentication is disabled?

It has a wired conection to a linksys router. I have reset the router and the cable modem. All the other computers conected to the router work fine.

How do you clear the DHCP tables? How do you disable the IEEE authentication?

In General, you can debug the Network Settings of a computer by following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer's Device Manager. Make sure that the Network Card drivers are installed correctly; i.e. there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two. Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack.
