EULA's, to read or not to read?

Isn't it wonderful how you CANNOT maximise the windows that EULA's appear in?
Sometimes most of it comes in CAPITAL letters, as well.

Am I being cynical? Or is this a deliberate plot so we don't make the effort to read EULA's in full?

EULA's, otherwise known as Licencing Agreements. You know, those things you have to click on "I agree" before you can carry on installing most programs. Baz

Not being maximizable (sp?) certainly doesn't help you read it, but then again, do most users a) care to read legalese for quite a few "Page Down"s b) care what's in it or c) buy or download a program and then not use it as quickly as possible?

Cynical? Maybe. Frustrated? Maybe. If only we could find out if all the programmers have a problem with Microsoft or the users of their programs...

It Pays To Read License Agreements OK, let's be honest. You didn't really read the EULA. How do I know? Because hardly anyone does. To prove that point, PC Pitstop included a clause in one of its own EULAs that promised anyone who read it, a "consideration" including money if they sent a note to an email address listed in the EULA. After four months and more than 3,000 downloads, one person finally wrote in. That person, by the way, got a check for $1,000 proving, at least for one person, that it really does pay to read EULAs.

Microsoft Frontpage 2002 Under Section #1, Grant of License, the second paragraph headed "Restrictions" states in part: "You may not use the Software in connection with any site that disparages Microsoft, MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, or their products or services, infringe any intellectual property or other rights of these parties, violate any state, federal or international law, or promote racism, hatred or pornography.

Not that i'd have anything to do with a site that "disparages Microsoft, MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, or their products or services, infringe any intellectual property or other rights of these parties, violate any state, federal or international law, or promote racism, hatred or pornography." but I would NEVER use frontpage, it writes crap code, notepad is so much better.
