Event Id: 1015: MsiInstaller

I'm a Vista Home Prem. User 32 bit.

I keep getting this when I try to install PalmDesktopWin62 from the website. It says:

Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Runtime

So i check my event log and found this every time that that error comes up so does this:
Sophos I think is getting affected by the MsiInstaller not working since it won't update and i found something releated to the .msi files.

have a look at this article from Microsoft help and support it suggest a few fixes for this error it looks as though a fault with your windows installer.try these solutions and see if they help " http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910816 " good luck.

 

I've tried the microsoft page for help and it doesn't "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910816 ". It says to update windows installer and when i try it says "this update does not apply to your system" and i'm installing Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu.

Method 2 non of those process are running or there.
Method 3 tried it and does not work.
Method 4 tried it also and does not work.
Method 5: It cause setup.exe to stop working and has and you get this:

i once had a similar issue with the windows installer on a xp platform it occurred after i updated to sp2 one of the suggestions was to update to the latest .net framework and you could guess what the result was when i tried this solution. the update failed,i had to uninstall .net framework completely from the computer and start from scratch.this method succeeded and the issues were fixed maybe this will help you also.
here is a tool that will help uninstall .net framework from your computer you may only need to go back as far as .net framework 2.0 " http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip " this may seem a lot of effort but it may be the solution to your problems hope this helps

 

I tried the tool and ran it to get ride of all the clean all version of the .net.
Then when I tried to install the new .net it came up with this error.

Also I unistalled a Windows Update and now I can't install that update using Windows Update. So this problems is stopping me from updating and installing fiiles.

 

I gave it a try and it work at cleaing all the .Nets.

BUT then i got this when i tried to reinstall the new .Net Framework

Also tried to uninstall the last update by windows, and that update i can't reinstall due to this problme with the mainstaller

 

i have read that there are two versions of ms .net framework3.5 sp1.there is the bootstrapper found here " http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en ".
and there is a full redistributable version found on the same page if you scroll down the page. if you are trying to install the first version and this is unsuccessful have you tried the full version.

I check for this and it isn't there.

As for the windows installer cleanup tool I can't install it. When I try it says

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. Thi can occur if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assitance.

And in event log it says this around the time u get that.

Problem dealt with. If you run into all the problems I did SAVE TIME and Go to the OLDEST system restore. Back your stuff up like docs and restore. My Lenovo computer has a recover thing that's helps recover files and does system restore. So I had it restore all files and os back to 6/17/09 and all the problems are gone.
