Event ID 7001 Svc Control Manager

I have a W2k system getting this system error every 30 sec...forever.

The Remote Access Connection Manager service depends on the Telephony service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
====================================================
Any suggestions on how to set this right?

I have Googled myself silly on this one with no luck...

control panel
administrive tools
services
scroll down to Telephony ,on left panel click Start service
on right panel, highlight telephony, right click , select Properties,select automatic or manual click okay

The description for Event ID ( 2001 ) in Source ( rasctrs ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: The event log file is corrupt.

I have run ZoneAlarm antivirus and found nothing. I get the above on every boot up.

I am still getting random cursor/system freezes.

The last event in my event log is a 6006.

The Event log service was stopped.

I haven't seen an event since.

Curious rabbit hole here....

I appreciate any suggestions...I am at the limit of my knowledge.

This event can occur when the Windows logon (Winlogon.exe) process does not ignore the Windows logon screen saver time-out. See M916719 for a hotfix applicable to Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

As per Microsoft: "This event is written during an expected restart or shutdown after the user initiates the restart or shutdown by clicking Start and then clicking Shut Down, or by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE and then clicking Shut Down". See MSW2KDB for additional information about this event.
