Frequently after startup (Vista home) I get excessive disk activity although Task Manager shows that no applications are running. How can I track down what's causing the disk activity?

    Hi

Try this, Process Monitor but options to disk activity could be indexing, windows update, your antivirus or security software, but after an initial minute or so the system settles?

The system settles, but after 5 minutes or so. I have Vista indexing turned off so that's not it. If antivirus is causing the problemr, why doesn't task manager tell you it is running? I've never had any success with Process Monitor telling me what's causing the problem.
