Exchange Server: Connection Refused

Howdy every one.....Merry Christmas

Hope i have put this in the right forum.

I have just set up a new server at work. Using the CEICW and Internaet mail wizard i thought i had set up exchange server. However when i try to send email or try an smtp test utility i get the ...."Defered: Connetion refused by mail.domainname.com" message. I seem to remember having to change some settings in IIS last time i set up exchange but cant seem to find the information regarding this issue again. If any one could give me some advice or point me to a good websie about these issues i would be eternally greatful
