External Hard Drives fails to complete Copy

    My external hard drive connected to my windows XP computer fails to complete the copy when I attemp to back up my data from the cpu.
    Copy C: drive to F: drive will not finish fails about 3/4 of the way through.
    What's going on with my external drive? confused

    Are you copying everything, including system files (windows directory, etc)? Problem is some of these files are in use and protected so it doesn't let you copy them.
