External Harddrive Lost Files :(

So basicly my external hardrive has been fine.. ive had it for a while and never had problems with it. Havent done anything differently like unplug it or anything. its basicly just on all the time and always connected.

Basicly in one of my folders where i usually put a bunch of different files.. pictures , documents and basicly just everything that would be just hanging around my computer goes in there .. i only seem to have like 30 items in it now.. and it use to have hundreds of files and stuff.

I did not delete them.. where did they go? can they be recovered? or are they gone ?

help would be much appreciated

Something in your file system may have been corrupted. Try scanning with Minitools Power Data Recovery (free for home use) and see if it can recover the files. Just make sure you do not save them back to the external drive or you will never recover them.
