Extreme data usage on home internet

    Hi,
    Im not sure if this is the right section, but within the last 2 months i have passed my internet cap of 150gb to 295gb. when i called att they started looking into it and tell me i have some virus that is causing this. Now in my home i have 2 desktops that are hard wired to the eith net and 4 laptops and a wifi lcd tv, not to mention the 4 phones that also hook to the wifi. I have had these for over a year and there wasnt an issue till recently. Is this something you could help me with?

    Is it possible that it is an infection? Yes of course. Finding which PC ( or PCs ) is the problem.

    You will have to run the below on each PC


    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    One PC per thread though. Thus for each PC you run this on, you will have to start a new thread ( label them accordingly so that we know it is not duplicate threads and so we know you are working on multiple PCs ).

    If any PCs on your network, have been experiencing any kind of problems or slow downs, you may want to start with it.


    Question: Any of the PCs used by children? Anyone using torrent downloading programs???

    yes, 1 of the desktops and 1 laptop the kids use. when i first got the notice of the overages i put a stop to any torrents being downloaded and unistalled the programs thinking that was it, so there hasnt been any dl's for the last 2 weeks

    Okay. We already fixed one PC in your other thread. Probably too soon to be able to tell if it was part of the problem. But you also shutdown the torrent programs. I wonder if your ISP has a way for you to retrieve daily stats out of your modem so that you can monitor for any change.
