Hello, XP Proffesional has become very, very slow in response. This started when I went to burn a cd whilst the Internet download and jukebox was running playing, Commands froze and unable to log off/close down. When trying to close End programme comes up with closing DLA then tfswctrl.exe. have tried ctl/alt/delete to get list but only 1 prog at a time listed and once ended still no movement. Left for an hour but still did not close down. Have tried chkdsk, virus scan. spybot, and a repair reinstall but still the same. When booted if I go to start/a prog. response as should be, but when I try to activate any prog this is when it stops/goes really slow. Have looked at all postings none of help, are we looking at a hardware prob now as I would have thought the repair/reinstall would have rectified it. Com was defragged only hours before problem arose. Computer only 8 weeks since build. Can only close down completely by turning power off at mains wall socket. Several Hung listings in
sys info for Musicmatch Jukebox. Should I uninstall ??

Hi thanks for quick reply have found the culprit. The DLA and tfswctrl.exe announcement when trying to log of belonged to a burning prog that was constantly running halting all else. Once identified I could not remove from AddRemove as it got to 75% then froze so managed to locate it in start up files and unchecked. returned to AddRemove and this time it totally removed it and lo and behold the com rebooted itself. I thought that a prog must be running in the background as all else of com OK up to seeeking for a programme to run, that is when it went into slow/slow mode. So one happy being (for the time being???) Thanks again for your site and help.

Just a note of advice... burning CD's takes up a shit load of processor time. You really shouldn't run anything at all while burning a CD other than the burning software itself. Though I know this wasn't the problem in your case, I have read some articles/help files that say the same thing I've advised. I have a 2.4 Ghz processor and it STILL takes 90-100% of its juice when I burn CD's. Just be aware of your computer's abilities... best wishes -

Wow, what software do you use? I have an XP 2000+ and Nero never goes above 10-15% (except when loading the buffer). Then again, I don't burn above 4x, either. IMX, you start to get inconsistencies above 8x, especially with movie files (VCDs).

Thanks for the posts as you reminded me that when burning to switch all else off as I got it some trouble a while back whilst doing that and I got away with it luckily. Although this was not the prob. this time, a good tip for burning and uploading music files. Thanks once again.
