Favorites won't save in Explorer

What possible reason could there be for not being able to save anything in Favorites?? It seem to have started after I used Avant Browser but I took that out but the problem remains.....any clues?? I also use Firefox but that works fine....Thanks

 

that happened to mu hubbys "favorites " too they are jsut gone and he is unable to save anything now ..He said a lil 'thing' popped in the corner askin him to accept changes he said no and now NO fav's..any Ideas?? GRRRRR

 

Still a Problem with Internet Explorer

I can't get Explorer to save anything in Favorites.......When I click *Add to Fav....nothing happens...nothing at all.....Please Help

Try a repair.

Depending on your operating system the method will vary but usually involves going to Add/Remove in Control Panel, selecting Internet Explorer to remove and you will be given the option to repair.

Can you see any favourites or click on the existing ones?

Again depending on your operating system, THIS may help if the above doesn't. You may be able to use this method for XP as well.

If you have XP, go to Start, Run and copy and past sfc /scannow then O.K.

You will need your XP CD.

 

After I started using Avant Browser is when the trouble started and ALL my favorites and pics are gone. I turned my computer on one day and everything was gone and ever since the Add Favorites just will not do anything.
So i'm going to do as u suggested in Add/Remove and c what happens.
I'm running windowsXP Home

Click Add/Remove Windows Components. Third button down I think.

Another method is to make sure you have "hidden files and folders" enabled and go to C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click on the ie.inf file, then select install.

 

Add/Remove Windows Components........Nope, not there.

I don't have the CD for WindowsXP Home.

Hidden Files and Folders.......Enabled

C:\Windows\lnf folder.......I have no idea where this is.

Regardless, without a Windows CD there isn't a whole lot you can do.

Try a new user account and see if the problem persists there.

 

Win dh can be related to pop ups and spyware.

Follow the steps in the Spyware Forum.

However, you really need a Windows CD.

If something goes wrong or you need to reinstall some Windows files then there won't be much that you can do.

Yeah, its not unheard of for user accounts to become corrupt in Windows XP.

Just transfer your data to a new account
