File Sharing Concern

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could explain to me how I can share files over my LAN network, without having them accessible to people on the internet. I don't know how that would even work exactly, but when I set up my two computers for a network for file sharing, it said I had to make it accessible to people on the internet, who in turn could view/alter my shared files and even access my printer. I definitely don't want that.

Also, are there any ways to set restrictions on the sharing? I'd prefer the file sharing to be only way. Is that difficult or even impossible to setup?
