    Hey guys

I just updated my system from windows me to windows 2000 but now I am stuck with 16 colors for my display. I dont know the type of card I have all it says is that I have a video controller (vga compatable). I read on one of your other threads to download pc wizard 2005 and I did but it didnt display anything when I ran it. Any help would be appreciated.

Open your PC and look at the writing on the video card. If it does not tell you what it is (IE Radeon, Rage, GForce, etc. etc.) go to Google and type in things that are printed on the board. Usually this will tell you the modem of display adapter it is, the chipset, and the manufacturer. Use this information to look for drivers on the manufacturer's website (ASUS, ATI, etc.). It's all a matter of trial and error. Just make sure you uninstall any previous drivers before installing new ones.

Or you could just use Everest (available on this site IIRC) or SANDRA available at http://www.sisoftware.net/ to find out what make/model it is.

Need me to fix your computer, Bubbles? :p

go to device manager find your video card right click it go to properties should be able to find a button "update drivers" click that and a wizard should start. install from a list or specific location, click next. uncheck search removable media, check include this location click browse and find the fold where those files you downloaded are.

What brand and model is your motherboard? S3 Savage 4 video is usually integrated into VIA microATX motherboards so if you can find the brand and model, you can go to the mobo mfr's web site and download the video drivers as well as get instructions on how to install them in Windows.
