    Greetings all.

I have been using Firefox with Vista Home for over a year now. I often put the machine in Standby (shut the lid). Never had any problems. Recently, however, after waking up the notebook and restarting Firefox it would hang (Firefox). The application is open, the menus all work, but no Internet site will load. I have to close Firefox, go to Task Manager and kill firefox.exe. Then I can restart Firefox and it will work again for a while. Sometimes it hangs again, sometimes it doesn't. If I don't use Standby Firefox can be open all day and it never hangs.

I have gone through the whole Firefox litany of using safe mode, creating a new profile, doing a clean reinstall -- nothing worked. My firewall is not the culprit either. I shut it down and the same thing happened. Haven't changed any Internet settings, nor have I fiddled with the Firefox Internet settings. I am at home and have DSL via an Internet provider. No fancy network stuff.

There must be a genius out there who can make sense out of this. ;)

    Dave
