FireFox = More susceptible to malware?

Ok, so I've recently been "converted" to useing firefox for a while- I like being able to edit/ modify/ add components to my browser. Plus, I was told that It is less subseptable to malware then Internet Explorer.
Well if this is true why is it that I pick up more tracking cookies and ad-whatevers with spybot/ Ad aware then ever before. Before when I'd run spybot it would pick up one problem- that didn't really exsist. And With Ad-aware like 15 items tops?
But NOW that i've started useing firefox I've found like 24 things wrong in SpyBot and 50 privacy objects from Ad-Aware- AND THEY'RE ALL FROM FIREFOX!
Could I be doing something wrong? I did try expearementing useing a tool called "greece Monkey" and I was activly useing something called "Faster Fox"

I guess I'm a little boggled on how something I was promised would cut down on malware has actually multiplyed the number of ad-aware I recieve. :confused
