Firefox not downloading!

hey,
My firefox is working perfectly fine except for one small problem, IT WON'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING!. It goes to download things and i go save as and then it but then it doesn't open the downloading window or even start the download.
Don't know what is going on my dads friend was here trying to do something to the wireless network for my dad dunno if the problems started after that.
Any help or suggestions what so ever are very appicated
