Firefox Opens To Blank Page

I have Windows 7. Whenever I click on Firefox, it opens to a blank page and says new tab on top. I can click on home button and it will take me to my homepage of yahoo. I have it set to open onto my home page so I don't know why it is doing this. Also, when I click about firefox, it has 31.0, but when it is looking for updates, it just keeps spinning. When I look in my add-ons, nothing is listed only a link to click to see if add ons are up to date and I can't disable any to see if that is causing the problem. I did a system restore a few days ago and that didn't help. Thanks.

 

How is it in Safe Mode?

 

Hi Earthling,

I went into safemode and the yahoo homepage appeared. Then I restarted and the updates for firefox started, asking me to restart after they finished. When I did, my homepage showed up and so did all my plug ins. I assume after restarting that takes me out of safemode?

What could have caused this? I appreciate your response and suggesting safemode. I didn't even know there was a safemode for firefox.

 

Browser problems are very often plug-in/add-on related so it's always worth trying it without them, and yes, restarting FF does resume in normal mode. No idea at all about exact cause but pleased it's fixed it
