First attempt to update BIOS

Hey everyone.
I'm going to take a stab at updating the BIOS on my computer.
Now this is my first time doing this so bear with me .

Should I use Everest to get my BIOS info?
Is that the best program that will give me my MOBO info that I need
to update my BIOS?

I'll post the Everest log and highlight what I think I need to look for.
Maybe someone can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong?

From there, is there a master site that holds all mobo info that I can go to
to get the latest bios?

My DVD burner can't "see" or "read" brand new disks as blanks.
The dvd burner keeps "seeing" them as full.
I've tried everything I could and it was suggested that the BIOS might be needed
to be updated.

 

Please oh please tell me you know about dvd drivers!!!!

I'm running Win2K.
The burner is a Sony DRU 530A.
Burning software has been Nero, Shrink, Decryptor, and the crap...er I mean bundle that came with my sony.

I can watch dvds on my burner, I can rip dvds onto my hard drive, I can burn audio cds, but I can't burn onto a blank disk.

It's not the software, it's something else but I don't know what.
