Flash Drive no media detected. bet you cant help me.

im trying to help out a girl, she doesnt know what happend. her computer crashed and restarted and now her usb drive doesnt work..

right now im on windows 7, it came broke from a vista computer, and i've tested it on an XP sp3 computer.

windows see its, recognizes it.. gives it a label and calls it media, but it has 0mb of capacity.
clicking on it yields "please insert disk into D:".

I have changed the volume letter, and tried to change the volume name..
i have tried to use various recovery tools, all of which detect no media.
I have attempted to format the drive with multiple tools, all of which discover no media.
of course all windows disk management tool are of no use.

This drive has all of her final papers for this semester, its important.

Its a PNY 4gb flashdrive.

 

Sorry, but looks like the stick is dead.

Something that works with internal hard drives, but i have never tried with flash drives, is putting them in the freezer for about an hour, then trying again, its worth a try!

Try posting in the software section as they will have more experience and if there is a way, they will find it!

Hope you get this problem sorted, does your friend have a back-up of the documents?

 

no backups.. and i doubt the freezer trick will work, thats to free up bearings and the mechanical parts from binding by shrinking them slightly with coldness.

thanks for the help, anyways i could get my post moved into the software sections? or is that not likely because mods have better things to do...

 

I know the freezer was doubtful, but if you were desperate?
