Hi,i recently purchased a new pc with intel dual core. Why new pc`s don`t have floppy drives anymore is a good question.
Long story short,i installed a new floppy drive for my windows xp system just to make a floppy copy of my master password--xp won`t let me make a copy to cd\dvd.
Windows recognized the floppy drive ok and installed the proper driver and the power light is on ------when i went to make a copy of my password it stated to install the disc so i did, waited a while and it stated again "please install disc",i repeated this several times and tried several different floppy discs all with the same "please install disc".
I don`t know what`s up here, but any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Running windows xp pro.

If the power light is staying on all the time, you have the cable on the floppy upside down, flop over and reinstall. ed

Also the end of the data cable with the "slice and twist" is the drive end, the "straight" end of the cable goes to the mobo or controller card.

Hi,i got a fix from another help forum:run error-checking with a floppy in the drive---it worked.I would have never thought of it.
Thanks for your suggestions--they were helpful.
