This thread is a slightly "off-topic" continuation from:
    Is this Scareware?

    My post #5, and sikvik's reply #8

I've added 2 programs to my laptop that provide Folder sizes in Windows 7.
Both are independent programs and DO NOT ADD Folder size to Windows Explorer.

    Folder Size
    http://www.mindgems.com/products/Folder-Size/Folder-Size.html
    and

    TreeSize Freev2.6
    http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/
Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs
    My note: I'm keeping both.
Folder-Size is slower than TreeSize Free, but is much more detailed, thus slower to output. See thumbnails for examples. Your choice, of course.

My favorites are Explorer++ and xplorer2 Lite

When using Explorer++ in order to see the folder sizes; go to the Tools menu and click Options then go to the "Folders and Files" tab and check "Show Folder Sizes." After that the program will show the individual folder sizes each time you open it. Also it takes like 3 seconds (after you initially start the program) for the Explorer++ to show folder sizes after you start the program. Unfortunately Explorer++ is apparently not available here at Major Geeks (at least I could not find it here when I used the MG search box). It is however available here: Explorer++ site URL: http://www.explorerplusplus.com/

Me second favorite is xplorer2 Lite. You must also Tools and Click Options and then click the "Advanced" tab. Then check "Show Folder Size" and "Show Active Item Information. Thereafter the program will show the individual folder sizes each time you open it. I could not find it here at the Major Geeks site but xplorer2 Lite latest release v2.0.0.3: (10 Nov 2011) is available here http://zabkat.com/x2lite.htm

Side Note: The free version is for private (home) or academic (school & university) and general non-profit use only. It has a rather large help file - a 3.3MB .pdf which you can download separately at http://zabkat.com/alldown.htm or by clicking on The "Tools" tab clicking "Help" if you should need a complete manual.

For Windows XP users: Folder Size 2.5 works wonderfully for Windows 2000 or XP (only). The program adds the ability to see Folder Sizes inside folders in Windows Explorer. Make sure to go to the developer’s website first for instructions before installing it http://foldersize.sourceforge.net/using.html

Cons: Does NOT work for VISTA or Windows 7, unfortunately...

    Good Luck!
